The University of Southampton
Transition Project

Bid for funds

Please get in contact if you would like to discuss a project on the first year student transition or if you have a particular concern with your first year students that you would like to share with us.

The Transition Project has a budget of £70k per academic year until 2012-2013 that can be spent to fund transition related projects.

The funding can be spent on developmental projects that are looking to test new concepts and ways of supporting students during their transition into the University (from the point of student acceptance of an offer to study at Southampton until the end of semester one). Normally after the first year of pilot, if the project is successful the expectation is that the department or professional service concerned will fund directly the initiative. On average projects are allocated from £2k to £15k. In the latter case departments are usually encouraged to match the project funding.

If you would like to discuss further a project you would like to implement in your department please do get in touch with Sarah Rogers.
