Annual Transition

The 2nd Annual Transition to Living and Learning Workshop will take place on Monday 27th June 2011 in the Nightingale Building on the Highfield Campus from 10.30am until 4.30pm.

The event should have broad appeal and be particularly relevant to staff interested in admissions, recruitment, first year teaching, induction, and student support for both undergraduate and Masters programmes. More than 100 members of staff at the University attended  last year Workshop in June 2010.

Topics that will be covered at the Workshop this year will include:

  • What the experience is like for our students from acceptance through to the end of their first semester here
  • Prearrival support
  • The first year curriculum
  • Peer support
  • A panel of sixth form teachers will debate how well prepared they think their students are for University study
  • Showcase of the pilot projects supported by the Transition to Living and Learning Project over the last year

A more detailed Workshop programme will be circulated nearer the time.

We would welcome any contributions to the Workshop, so if you have any activities or projects that you would like to share then please contact  Sarah Rogers. If there are any topics that you would like us to include that are not listed above, then we would also be very interested to hear from you.

A buffet lunch will be included, so it would be helpful if you could confirm your attendance for catering purposes to Marta Cecconi.
