On the Monday 28th and Tuesday 29th June Jean Leah, Learning and Teaching Coordinator (Management) and the Transition to Living and Learning Team have been working with 10 enthusiastic student volunteers that are moving into their second year at Southampton and want to get involved with the newly launched Management buddy scheme.

The training was very successful and allowed the students to reflect on their transition to University, practice some of the skills they will have to engage during the meetings with their buddies and better understand their role.

For the first 6 weeks of term all Management first year students will be assigned a transition buddy, who will shadow them through induction and meet with them fortnightly in groups of ten. Buddies will encourage students to make full use of the personal tutor system and will also make them more aware of feedback at University. By taking part in the scheme the student volunteers and their buddies will also be able to gain points towards their Graduate Passport.

The students are looking forward to meet their first year buddies during the Management undergraduate induction in "week 0".
