Induction

Induction should be focused on communicating to the students key health and safety and administrative procedures for their courses, but most importantly it should be an opportunity for students to familiarise themselves with the new environment and get to know their classmates and personal tutors.

Students should get to know:

Interactive sessions that explore the learning and teaching methods used at university are also very effective in helping students gain a better idea of what they can expect. 

The Project has developed some short video clips that introduce students to the different styles of delivery they will experience in workshops, seminars and lectures. These videos were specifically produced for a session for UG and PGT international students delivered by Jean Leah and Joy Moloney as part of the Academic Day, during the 2010 International Welcome Week. They were used as the basis for a class discussion on the different ways in which learning can take place at University and how are student expected to prepare and interact in different learning contexts.
