SuperIdentity

Exploring patterns within super identity

The third strand focuses on how this research can be used in the real world. By combining information across measures, we can increase the certainty with which identity decisions are made in a forensic context. This has several applications. First, it will help to reduce false identifications. This is important, as the impact of false accusations on people can be severe. Second, we will be able to highlight where more information would improve the certainty of identifications. Finally, we will be able to provide a certainty metric associated with each identity decision so that users can establish whether the identification is sufficiently trustworthy for them to rely on it. These decisions will be strengthened through the combination of online data and real world measures, to create a unique mix of identification tools.
