CMP218 Chemistry Waterless Condensers

CMP218 Chemistry Waterless Condensers

Condensers are used in the Chemistry Building to provide cooling during experiments. The existing condensers used in the teaching laboratories in Chemistry were water cooled and were found to waste large volumes of water. This project replaced most of the water cooled condensers in the teaching and research laboratories with air cooled condensers. These air condensers do not use water and instead provide a cooling effect by using the draft in a fume cupboard.

This project resulted in an annual saving of 7,100m3, £15,500 and 7 tonnes/CO2.
