Event details

On Tuesday 19th November we are holding an evening of talks addressing the impact which our changing climate has on human health and wellbeing. The event will consist of two seminars given by experts in Complex Socio-ecological Systems and Global Health.

Dr. James Dyke is a lecturer in Complex Systems Simulation at the University of Southampton and is Co-chair of Sustainability Science Southampton. He will be introducing the climate change agenda, and discussing its implications for food security, energy policy and global governance.

Prof. Sabu Padmadas is a Professor of Geography and Global Health at the University of Southampton. He is Co-director of the Centre for Global Health, Population, Poverty & Policy (GHP3). He will be discussing the pathways through which climate change impacts human health, and the associated global burden.

In addition, we will have a live video-link to Warsaw where the 19th Conference of the Parties (COP19) to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) will be taking place. Climate health advocates from youth group Healthy Planet UK will update us on the latest developments made by member states on the UNFCCC.

There will be a break between the speakers' talks, during which refreshments will be provided.
