Winner: Dr Tony Curran

The drive for Tony to design the sustainability game show in late 2013 was to replace the 'traditional' lecture style of talking to people by telling them things, with a fun and interactive way to engage them. The game show proved to be very popular and people still learned about sustainability issues.

So far the game show has been run in a variety of formats. It is adaptable depending on the audience size, age and venue. Over 300 people have participated across five events.

Participants leave with an improved sense of why being a responsible citizen and consumer is important and ideas for how they can reduce their carbon footprint.

Runner up: Mihaela Zhekova

Mihaela made two sustainable eco-friendly dresses and complimentary jewellery out of materials sourced from local charity shops. The dresses were presented on a catwalk, where £1,500 was raised to provide food, water, shelter, healthcare and education for children at the Hosanna Orphanage in Myanmar (Burma).

Building on this success, Mihaela was a Sustainable Fashion Designer for another fundraising event on the 30th October at Chilworth Manor, Southampton: 'Touch of Indulgence' to support a Breast Cancer Care charity. She was recently invited as a guest speaker of University of Winchester, School of Business to provide sustainability talks and workshops to second and third year students.

After the awards she is working on her first sustainable collection to be presented at the South Coast Fashion Week, 9-11 May, BIC, Bournemouth.
