First ever Southampton Bioblitz coming soon

Published: 10 April 2014

The first city Bioblitz - an event for all the community - will take place this June.

What is a Bioblitz?

A “BioBlitz” is a great outdoor, community event where expert naturalists and members of the public work together to do a fast survey of all forms of life in a natural space. It's a race to find as many different species of plants, birds, insects, fungi, mammals, and everything else as possible!

What will happen?

Dates: 13th-14th June

Location: University of Southampton, Highfield Campus, University Road, Southampton, SO17 1BJ

This is an event for all the family. It will begin with bat and moth surveys on the Friday night. On Saturday, there will be series of guided explorations of the Common and Highfield Campus, exploring the biodiversity to be found including butterflies, birds, plants...
