Sustainability Action and the Southampton BEES (Business Ethics and Environment Students) Programme are recruiting for three paid student internships.

The Sustainability Action Programme works to embed sustainability in all university activities. We are working with the Students' Union on a joint programme, "Business Ethics and Environment Students" (BEES), where students will be trained to help local businesses make their practices more sustainable.

We are currently recruiting for three student term-time internships:

BEES Communications Assistant:

As communications intern you will support the BEES team in delivering publicity and general communications campaigns, raising the profile of BEES across a wide range of media outlets. Here you will assist with the organisation of BEES promotional activities collating/sourcing information from sources relating to BEES in order to generate news-worthy stories and then write copy for articles, blogs and social media posts. You will update the BEES website, media and image archive as required and proof-read text before print and distribution. (More details in the job description). More details can be found in the job description which you can download from the right-hand panel.

BEES Sustainability Practice Assistant:

In this role you will be working with the joint University-Students’ Union teams to develop tools to help local businesses to become more environmentally, socially and economically sustainable. This innovative BEES programme will transform local business by placing students with businesses to help them improve their ethical and environmental practice. You will gain experience of developing ethical and environmental initiatives to be implemented in local organisations. (More details in the job description). More details can be found in the job description which you can download from the right-hand panel.

BEES Volunteer Co-ordinator:

In this role you will be developing your organisation skills and volunteer knowledge to take part in the innovative joint University-Students’ Union programme. This programme will train students to work with businesses and help them improve their ethical and environmental practice. You will be working within the BEES team to promote this opportunity to volunteers, help with their training and support their work in organisations. More details can be found in the job description which you can download from the right-hand panel.

All interns recruited will receive training and support from the University and Union team, and as part of our ethical practice will be paid a higher wage – the Living Wage (£7.65 per hour).

The internships will each be one day per week for 22 weeks (all within the university terms). We will work with you to ensure that the internship work fits around your university timetable.

How to apply:

Please complete the application form (you can download this from the right hand panel) and submit your completed form and CV to bees@susu.org.

Please ensure you state which role you are applying for and that you tailor your application to the relevant job description. You may also want to look at the BEES website to find out more about the programme.

Deadline for applications: 11.59pm on 2nd November 2014.
