Turing at Southampton Fellow appointed new role

Recently appointed new Deputy Programme Director for Health and Medical Sciences, Professor Ben MacArthur will help to shape the strategy and implementation of the Turing’s Health Programme, as well as providing research leadership.

Ben MacArthur is professor of quantitative biomedicine at the University of Southampton and was appointed a Turing Fellowship in 2018 and is currently working on the research project 'Mapping biology from mouse to man'.

About his new role, Ben says: "I am delighted to take on the role of Deputy Programme Director for Health and Medical Sciences at the Alan Turing Institute. Modern developments in data science have the power to transform healthcare. As the UK national institute for data science and artificial intelligence the Turing is at the forefront of these developments. I am looking forward to helping to lead the Turing healthcare programme at this exciting time for both data science and medicine."

The Turing Health and Medical Sciences research programme delivers a major programme of research into the theory and methods of AI, statistics, and data analytics underpinning medical and health applications that will enable scientists to do better science, without compromising respect for privacy and patient trust.
