Staff parking permits and lift-sharing

Staff Annual and Monthly Parking Permits

You may apply for a permit for an academic campus if you are a member of staff or an incoming member of staff that commutes from outside of a 3 mile limit to your worksite.  The application process can be made after first registering on the SUSSED Portal and by using the link within the Travel & Transport box under the Services tab or by clicking here.

Staff annual permits run from January 1st - Dec 31st and monthly permits run for 28 consecutive days.

Staff paid via the main University Payroll may opt to pay by salary deduction. Payment may be made by debit/credit card via the University's Online Store.

Staff Flexible Permits -

*Currently unavailable, please apply for a permit*

Staff requiring less frequent parking may wish to purchase our Staff One Day Flexible Permits. *These are available from the Online Store.

Lift Sharing

You may like to consider lift sharing which not only significantly reduces your permit cost but is a sociable way to save vehicle fuel and running costs and reduce your carbon footprint. If you cannot identify a suitable colleague with whom to share, you can register free of charge with LiftShare and identify another person employed by the University who would also be interested in car sharing. Only one car per permit may be parked on Campus, at Academic Sites or Halls of Residence at any one time. Reduced permit prices only apply when staff share with other staff. If you already hold a car parking permit but wish to start lift sharing, you will need to cancel your existing permit first. The principal applicant is responsible for payment of the fee.

Gower Car Park

The Gower Car Park is an additional facility offered at Highfield. Successful applicants normally use their vehicles on University business during the working day. There is an additional fee which is reflected in that space is more readily available. Currently, there is a waiting list in place.

National Oceanography Centre Southampton

Applicants needing a permit to park at the National Oceanography Centre, Southampton should apply at the NOCS Helpdesk (tel. 023 80596666) or send an email to facilities@noc.ac.uk.

Park and Ride

Winchester is well served by Park & Ride schemes and you can find out details on the Winchester Park & Ride Website.

Southampton does not currently have a Park & Ride facility; however the University operates Park & Ride services for special events, such as Open Days and Graduation.
