Staff Parking Permits
You may apply for a parking permit to park on an academic campus if you are a member of staff that lives and commutes 3+ miles from home to your worksite.
The University is suspending charges for car parking until early 2025. Parking permits will be issued until 5 January 2025, and staff will need to reapply for their permit in advance of this date.
Further information about the reintroduction of car parking charges will be circuated in autumn 2024.
Lift Sharing
You may like to consider lift sharing which not only significantly reduces your permit cost but is a sociable way to save vehicle fuel and running costs and reduce your carbon footprint. If you cannot identify a suitable colleague with whom to share, you can register free of charge using the My Journey Car Share app and identify another person employed by the University who would also be interested in car sharing. Only one car per permit may be parked on Campus, at Academic Sites or Halls of Residence at any one time. Reduced permit prices only apply when staff share with other staff. If you already hold a car parking permit but wish to start lift sharing, you will need to cancel your existing permit first. The principal applicant is responsible for payment of the fee.
