Student parking permits

Parking on academic sites - Highfield, Avenue, Boldrewood, WSA

Parking spaces are extremely limited on all University of Southampton academic sites and parking restrictions are in place between 8am and 5pm, Monday - Friday. A Parking permit must be displayed during restricted hours unless paying to park within the Pay & Display car park.

Undergraduate students are not eligible for a parking permit unless you are registered with Disability and Inclusion because of a proven medical condition and they will support your application for a permit.

Students that commute from outside of Southampton and that are not eligible to apply for a permit to park on an academic site, may apply for a permit to park at our offsite Montefiore Non-Residents Car Park which is based at Wessex Lane SO18 2NU. There is a regular Uni-link bus service from Wessex Lane to Highfield. Avenue & Boldrewood Campuses. Alternatively, Highfield Campus is a 15-20 minute walk.

To apply for a parking permit you must first be registered as a University of Southampton student and have a student id and email account. If you do not yet have an account you can apply for one on Subscribe. Once you have applied for your account it is normally active within 15 minutes.

Please apply via the online database which is also accessible via the student tab on the SUSSED portal and within the Travel & Transport section.

Eligible students may apply for an Annual Permit which will expire at the end of the Academic Year, or a Monthly Permit which expires at the end of 28 consecutive days. We do not send renewal reminders for monthly permits.

Refunds are available only on annual permits for complete and unused months remaining at the time of permit surrender, monthly permits are not refundable.

If you do not have a parking permit for academic sites you are not authorised to park onsite, unless it is in the Pay and Display car park on Highfield Campus and displaying a ticket from one of the machines provided.

Motorcycle parking.

You do not need a permit to park a motor cycle or scooter but it must not be parked in a marked car parking space or parked within a pedestrianised area or within close proximity to a building entrance or exit.

*Students seeking a permit to park at the Waterfront Campus should apply at the NOCS Helpdesk (tel. 023 80596666) or send an email to facilities@noc.ac.uk
