Foundation year entry requirements

International Foundation Year (progressing to undergraduate degree in management, humanities, arts and social sciences) Surat Tanda Tamat Belajar Sekolah Menengah Umum (STTB SMU) - Upper Secondary Certificate of Completion achieving an overall grade 7 out of 10
Engineering Foundation Year (progressing to undergraduate courses in engineering, physics, computer science and geophysics) Surat Tanda Tamat Belajar Sekolah Menengah Umum (STTB SMU) - Upper Secondary Certificate of Completion achieving an overall grade 7 out of 10, with 7 in maths and physics
Science Foundation Year (progressing to undergraduate courses in biology, chemistry and other science-related courses) Surat Tanda Tamat Belajar Sekolah Menengah Umum (STTB SMU) - Upper Secondary Certificate of Completion achieving an overall grade 7 out of 10, with 7 in maths and a science subject              

Undergraduate entry requirements

To be considered for a place on one of our undergraduate (bachelors) degrees, you will need:

STTB-SMA Certificate with an approved foundation programme
High grades in UK A levels obtained in Indonesia
Between 28 and 38 points in the International Baccalaureate (IB)
First year of an relevant university degree with a average grades of 2.8-3.0 out of 4.0

Postgraduate entry requirements

Masters programmes

Bachelors degree (Sarjana) with a minimum GPA of 2.8-3.0 out of 4.0

UK 1st degree equivalent: 3.0; 3.2 depending on awarding institution
UK 2.1 degree equivalent: 2.8; 3.0 depending on awarding institution

PhD programmes

Good grades in bachelors and masters degrees awarded by a recognised university, and a strong research proposal

English language entry requirements

You will need to be able to demonstrate the required level of English language proficiency. Students from Indonesia who have achieved Cambridge O Level – English grade C+ may be exempted from additional English language requirements.

The Indonesian student community

We are pleased to welcome students from Indonesia to the University each year. In 2016/17 there are 58 Indonesian students studying with us.

Student-run clubs and societies

Getting involved in clubs and societies is a great way to meet other students from your country and from around the world. There are many societies run by the University's Students' Union (SUSU) for different interests, religions, sports and academic groups. You may be interested in joining the University of Southampton Indonesian Student Society.
