Entry requirements

This information is for general guidance only; entry requirements vary for different courses. For more specific details, please visit the relevant course web page or contact the admissions office for your chosen subject area.

Foundation year entry requirements

If you do not have the traditional entry requirements for our undergraduate courses, you may be able to qualify by doing one of our foundation programmes first. To find out more, visit our foundation years page or contact the International Office team.

Undergraduate entry requirements

To be considered for a place on one of our undergraduate (bachelors) degrees, you will need:

UK A levels with grades BBB to A*AA  
Between 30 and 38 points in the International Baccalaureate (IB)
Reifeprufung / Matura with a overall grade "Mit gutem Erfolg bestanden" with minimum Grade 2 in 4 subjects. Some programmes may require up to 4 subjects at Grade 1

 Postgraduate entry requirements

Masters programmes Bachelor degree / Diploma / Magister awarded by a recognised institution, with a grade of 1 (Sehr gut) or 2 (Gut) - equivalent to a UK 2:1
PhD programmes Good grades in both bachelors and masters programmes awarded by a recognised institution

English language entry requirements

You will need to be able to demonstrate the required level of English language proficiency. Find out more about our English language requirements and support.

The Austrian student community

We are pleased to welcome students from Austria to the University each year. In 2016/17 we have 12 Austrian students studying with us and we also welcomed 6 Erasmus students from our Austrian partner universities.

Student-run clubs and societies

Getting involved in clubs and societies is a great way to meet other students from your country and from around the world. There are many societies run by the University's Students' Union (SUSU) for different interests, religions, sports and academic groups.
