Working as a Researcher

References and resources for research staff

Working as a researcher is exciting and rewarding but demanding, especially if you are an Early Career Researcher (ECR) or have a family.  The main information can be located on internal SharePoint portals and there are a list of helpful links below.   This site contains the important information that covers the University of Southamptons Research Culture as well as The Researcher Development Concordat.

Research Culture

Research culture describes the manner and environment in which we support, conduct, share and use research.  The research culture at the University of Southampton is shaped by our values, attitudes and behaviours, and provides the framework within which we carry out and communicate our research.

Researcher Development Concordat

This is an important national document that ‘sets out the conditions we believe are required to create the very best culture for our researchers to thrive.’  The University of Southampton has been implementing the Researcher Development Concordat since 2009.
Read the action plans and progress reports and why this matters to you.
