The MA Luxury Brand Management Programme, at Winchester School of Art, has had a successful start to the academic year securing some valuable new relationships with luxury brands.

The success of the course relies on building new, and maintaining existing relationships with industry, which enables the course to create a high profile programme with content which is able to compete with global institutions. The rapport we build with the luxury brands helps contribute to the Semester 2 Consultancy Project, where the students work in groups on real company issues, in addition to building the Luxury Brand Management Internship Programme, where students are able to complete work experience with luxury brands during the month of October. Building strong communication with the luxury brands means we are able to visit the flagship stores and headquarters whilst on the week-long study trips in London and in Paris. New luxury collaborations this academic year include: Jo Malone London, Mulberry, Dior, Dickinson&Doris, SSenses Fragrance, Rocco Forte Hotels, Mame Huku and Cunard.

At the beginning of November, the MA Luxury Brand Management Students, along with their Programme Leader Debbie Pinder, Professor Joanne Roberts and Professor John Armitage, spent a week in London for the Semester 1 luxury study trip. The group stayed in a luxury hotel, visited a selection of luxury brands such as Mulberry, Jo Malone London, Gieves & Hawkes, Mame Huku, Bremont, Lock & Co., Floris and The Ritz, and had the opportunity to analyse luxury experiences while completing a project on the Britishness of luxury brands. The feedback from the luxury brands received was impressive with comments ranging from “So lovely to meet such a mature group of inquisitive students” .. to… “Fantastic to see the luxury group again this year, we look forward to their visit each year and value their contribution to luxury research”. This trip, along with the Luxury Paris Study trip in the Spring, provides the students with an invaluable insight into the industry, and a platform upon which they are able to build their knowledge in the management of luxury brands.
