Event details
Winchester School of Art cordially invites you to the launch of a new journal, Luxury: History, Culture, Consumption, published by Bloomsbury Publishing and edited by Dr Jonathan Faiers. We are delighted to co-host this event with Winchester’s landmark luxury store, Cadogan, and we are grateful for the sponsorship of Coates & Seely English sparkling wine, Summerdown Mint single estate pure English mint and Luscombe drinks.
The Winchester Luxury Research Group at Winchester School of Art encompasses luxury-based production including fine art, design, and media. The group engages with the theory and practice of concepts such as pleasure and sumptuousness, excess and waste, extravagance and consumption.
The event will take place in the Gallery at Winchester School of Art at 6pm on Wednesday 26th November, coinciding with the current exhibition, Other-side, featuring works by some of the most significant graphic artists including work specifically made for the exhibition and student work. Curated by Danny Aldred, artists represented are Åbäke, Daniel Eatock, David Carson, Ken Garland, Owen and the Eyeballs, Natalie Yiaxi, Sennep and students on the BA Graphic Arts programme.
