Senior Teaching Fellow in Interaction Design

Andy Lapham is a Senior Teaching Fellow at Winchester School of Art, University of Southampton. In October 2020 he moved to a 0.6 FTE contract. Andy is a member of the MA Communication Design course team, where he is module coordinator for Design and New Media and a Personal Academic Tutor.
Andy Lapham is an experienced educator whose subject areas concentrate around interaction design and user experience design. He is also a web designer, photographer and maker of things.
Andy joined WSA/UoS in 2014. Previously he was a Principal Lecturer in Creative Technologies at University of West London, where at various times he managed people, resources, courses and university-wide projects. In 2013, in recognition of his sustained impact on learning and teaching, Andy was awarded a Principal Fellowship of the Higher Education Academy. He has held numerous external examiner positions with other UK universities and spent a period leading the Interaction and Web group on the British Computer Society HE Qualifications Panel.
Andy's work focuses on the roles of design thinking and design research in the visual and information design for digital devices. He writes code and has a career-long interest in enhancing learning experiences through digital technologies. This has led to academic papers on topics ranging from the use of social software to support learning through to creativity and the use of learning journals in the reflective process.
