Jaguar Design visit
As a part of Industry Relationship Plan, the Students of MA Design Management visited Jaguar Design Studio Birmingham and Samsung European Design Studio London.
These study trips are customised in terms of curriculum discussion by the industry practitioners and Lecturer of WSA, Aqeel Ahmed. The aim is to integrate the academic learning of the students with the empirical industry practices.
Students of MA-Design Management visited Samsung European Design Studio London on 1st December 2010.
The tour was organized to link the academic curriculum for process design with the adopted industry practices by Samsung Design Studio. Students were detailed by Samsung Deign Europe Strategic Manager, Paul De Ath about the Global Consumer Behaviour for electronics, Design Strategy of Samsung, Profitability and Brand Management.
Students of MA-Design Management also visited Jaguar Design Studio Birmingham on 15th December 2010. The tour was based on the curriculum part of product design. Jaguar as a company is considered among the best, on account of excellence in product design. The tour lasted for 5 hours. Where by the students were detailed about the use of computer aided designing (CAD), Computer aided manufacturing (CAM), product design and manufacturing process design in the Jaguar operations. This tour was followed by a combine lecture on Product Design by Jaguar staff and WSA Lecturer (Aqeel Ahmed).
These developments are aimed at students writing Dissertations/Final projects on the topics of the Industry based Design issues, enabling students for possible work placements at the end of a MA Design Management Programme.
The inclusion of Industry Practitioners (Jaguar, Samsung, and Coca-Cola) in the curriculum development and delivery at Winchester School of Art, is guiding the MA Design Management programme in further developing and sustaining the positioning at a world wide scenario.
