WSA graduate launches new exhibition

Published: 4 August 2015

Winchester School of Art graduate Zoe Hawkins has launched a new exhibition entitled 'Existence' alongside Eastleigh artist Sarah Jeffries, which is being hosted at the Zoe Hawkins Gallery in Winchester.

'Existence' features artists challenging the way we view our world and our existence. The exhibition, curated by Eastleigh artist Sarah Jeffries, is open now and will run until the 18th August 2015 at the Zoe Hawkins Gallery, St. Clements Street, Winchester.

Exhibitors at the group show include Sarah Jeffries, Jo Wilmot, Gareth Kemp, Annabel Dover and Winchester School of Art (WSA) alumnus Harry Pye.

Zoe Hawkins graduated from Winchester School of Art in 2013 with a Master of Fine Arts. The Zoe Hawkins Gallery was created to showcase contemporary art and collaborate with guest artists.

Sarah Jeffries has offered advice to art students, saying "In the world of art you've got to make things happen for yourself and your art. After leaving university it can take a while to decide what kind of artist you want to be. But once you're really confident about a body of work, apply for lots of open submissions/competitions and get together with a group of artists whose work you respect and put on a show somewhere and invite everyone you know."
