WSA's Adam Procter, the programme leader for the BA in Games Design & Art has appeared on BBC Radio 5 Live, to talk about the links between games design and art.

The programme is BBC Radio 5 Live's Let's Talk About Tech podcast, which aims to 'discuss the world of video games and games culture.' This edition takes as its starting point the fantastical and sometimes disturbing paintings of C15th Netherlandish painter, Hieronymus Bosch. Comparing his large, detailed and complex paintings with the kind of world-building and artwork design which occurs in many of today's computer games, the interviewer - Adam Rosser - talks with our own Adam Procter about the confluence of the two forms, and the ways in which they may influence each other. Together they also explore the extent to which the art used in video games may be seen as an ignored or side-lined discipline.

Adam's response is to explain that computer games are just another form, another media, in which artists can work. As he says, there are 'contemporary artists that are utilising game ideas and mechanics to produce artwork that questions all kinds of things, [...] using games as a way of expressing themselves.'
