Mike Bastin Quoted on Fusion of Traditional and Modern Chinese Fashionable Clothing

In a recent paper published in the US edition of China Daily, WSA's Mike Bastin has been quoted on the changing nature of Chinese fashion where a blend of traditional clothing in a modern context is emerging. The article's author cites Chinese clothing company Danmang, established in March 2015, and presents examples of Danmang's contemporary rendtions of traditional Chinese clothing.

Mike's quotes come at the very end of the article where he comments on the underlying importance of the simultaneous retention of traditional Chinese cultural values  and adoption of more modern values. Much of Mike's published research, including a book chapter published by Springer in November 2016, points to an independence, rather than an inter-dependence, between the retention/adoption of traditional and modern cultural values where younger Chinese fashion consumers are concerned.
