Designer and author Andy Clarke will share some of his experiences and lessons learned from fifteen years of self-employed home working as a designer and author. 
This talk will be of keen interest to students thinking about working as freelancers and wanting to know more about the business end of the creative industries.

Andy Clarke is a designer and author known for his design work, books, conference presentations and contributions to the community. Over the last 15 years, he has written two books, ‘Transcending CSS’ and ‘Hardboiled Web Design’ and has given over 50 conference presentations, hosting workshops and training events for other web professionals all over the world. He has also run a small design company, Stuff and Nonsense (www.stuffandnonsense.co.uk), from his home in rural North Wales, working with a variety of clients. Andy co-hosts a weekly discussion show about the business, “sharp” end of web, design and creative industries, available by podcast at http://unfinished.bz/.
