WSA is conveniently located in the centre of the historic city of Winchester, 12 miles north of Southampton.

Arrival by rail

Trains from London leave from Waterloo and reach Winchester in around 50 minutes.

Trains from Southampton take around 15 minutes. You can find details of tickets and schedules on the National Rail website.

Arrival by plane

Southampton Airport

Take the train from Southampton Airport to Winchester.

The journey takes approximately 7-10 minutes with the fast train and 21 minutes otherwise.

London Airports

For advice on travelling on the underground within London please check Transport for London.

You have to travel from London Waterloo Station to get to Winchester.

For advice and time tables for national trains check National Rail.

London Heathrow (closest of all London airports):

National Express coaches from London Heathrow serve Winchester. You can find timetables and book tickets on the National Express website.

Alternatively, you can take the Heathrow Express to London Paddington, or travel on the London underground to London Waterloo station for the train to Southampton.

London Gatwick

You can take the Gatwick Express to London Victoria Train station

London City

You can take the Docklands Light Railway (DLR), which takes you to London underground interchange stations such as Canning Town, Stratford and Bank.

London Stansted

You can take the Stansted Express to London Liverpool Street Station.

London Luton

A shuttle bus service operates to and from Luton Airport Parkway Station, this is normally a 10 minute trip from the airport terminal building. You can then take a train to central London stations – Blackfriars, City Thameslink, Farringdon and St Pancras International.

London Southend

You can take the train to Stratford OR London Liverpool Street Station in central London.

Getting around in Winchester

Winchester is an ancient capital of England.

Attractions include the Great Medieval Hall containing the legendary King Arthur Round Table, Winchester Cathedral, Winchester Castle, the Jane Austen’s House Museum, Winchester College (the oldest public school in England), galleries and Roman ruins.

The city is compact and easy to get around by walking.

There are several hotels in the Winchester city centre within walking distance from the workshop venue, these can be found via a hotel booking websites such as Booking.com.

Of course, it is also possible to arrange your accommodation using peer-to-peer platforms such as Airbnb.
