The Agency

Winchester School of Art have established the UK’s first student-run Advertising and Design Agency. This is an innovative and ambitious concept that shows the School’s commitment to ensuring its students have a competitive edge in the employment market.

Linking students with businesses

The Agency will provide a range of marketing support services to clients who need help in promoting their organisations. Staffed by specialists with a variety of skills such as graphic design, art direction, copywriting, production, web design and development and project management; the Agency will typically work on a project or retained basis.

The idea behind the Agency is to link talented students and graduates from the School with companies who want to take advantage of their specialist skills at lower rates than the industry norm. Students and graduates will utilise dedicated office space, facilities and equipment at the School and will have the benefit of an Agency Manager and a Studio Manager. The Agency Manager will be responsible for the day to day running of the Agency and the Studio Manager will bring specialist design knowledge and serve as a design consultant.

The students and graduates will be given the opportunity to apply principles, skills and theory taught in the classroom. They will further develop their skills and enhance their portfolios, giving them a real advantage as they enter the workforce in what is a very competitive industry.

The success of the Agency will not only benefit the School’s students and graduates, but it will contribute to the local community by retaining creative talent in the local area and providing clients with exceptional products and services.
Any revenues generated by the Agency will go directly back to the School to cover the Agency’s expenses, such as equipment and supplies, and to aid the Agency’s future development
