One of my favourite things about the course is that it allows the students to direct their own assignments, so you can choose to spend your time researching and writing about a topic that interests you.

I chose to study at Winchester School of Art for numerous reasons, including the short train journey from where I live in Woking, and the intriguing course content that’s different to what I’ve studied before; I studied Graphic Design at undergraduate level, so I was anxious about doing a Masters degree in a different subject.

However, the tutors were very considerate and offered lots of help with the coursework. Also, unlike at my previous University, every student is allocated a tutor whom they can contact if they need support or would like to talk over some options in regards to personal issues which may be affecting their studies. The lecturers were all very enthusiastic, which encourages students to do their best.

One of my favourite things about the course is that it allows the students to direct their own assignments, so you can choose to spend your time researching and writing about a topic that interests you. The amount of assignments is challenging, but I’ve learnt new how to be more organised with my time and plan efficiently.

I really enjoy the atmosphere of the Winchester campus. It really does feel like an art gallery, with numerous exhibitions being put up throughout the year. If you want to take a break from your studies, you can always take a short walk along the corridor and find some inspiration in others’ artwork.

Winchester is a charming historical place and I feel privileged to have my course based on a campus in such a beautiful location. Apart from being 5 minutes away from the adorable town centre, the campus is situated next to a lake and a park, both of which are excellent areas for walk and breaks from lectures.
