Barcelona is an international leader in design - you only have to walk around the city to see that.
You see the city's latest skyline when you visit the old renovated industrial districts. You pass through the old mediaeval quarter, now converted into a modern area full of life. You can wander along the city’s long coastline where new buildings and new architecture sit on the sea’s edge. You find magnificent examples of Art Nouveau architecture and Gaudí’s unique constructions. In few places in the world will you find a public space like Barcelona’s, where design is such an important part of the way squares and urban elements have been conceived. And the same applies to the interior design of Barcelona’s shops, bars and restaurants.
Barcelona is inspiring in itself and it will play an essential part in your design education process. Elisava is located on Barcelona’s best-known street, La Rambla. An important part of the learning activities for this Masters course are the visits to these singular places that we have programmed. And all of this in a city that also has outstanding centres such as the FAD, the world’s oldest design association, which hosts a large number of activities related to the profession (exhibitions, awards, conferences, and so on), Design Hub Barcelona, a design museum, centre and laboratory, and the Barcelona Centre for Design, which organises activities such as Design Week.
