Life Drawing

The Introduction to Life Drawing course is designed with the complete beginner in mind. Drawing is the most immediate way of capturing or studying a subject and the human form is endlessly fascinating and interesting to draw. This course is held on Tuesday evenings from 6.30 to 8.30pm.

Each week you will be led through a warm up session consisting of a variety of drawing exercises and short dynamic gestural poses to experiment with different types of mark making and relax you - taking away any fear you may feel about drawing and drawing from life.

Each week the warm up will be followed by considering a different aspect of life drawing, for example: proportion or composition, alongside an introduction to the different materials used in drawing; before progressing on to 1 or 2 sustained poses allowing you to develop your drawings in more detail and in your own style. The class will be designed to be a relaxed and sociable environment giving you space to experiment and progress at your own pace.

Participants will complete the course having amassed a large quantity of life drawing and gained an insight in to the formalities of drawing from life and an understanding of various applicable materials. The course will be designed with the complete beginner in mind, who may have no prior experience of drawing from life, to the more experienced who wish to have access to drawing from life on a weekly basis.
