The Centre's academic team is drawn from the highest performing research groupings at the University, bringing outstanding track records in their respective disciplines and an emergent distinction in collaborative Web Science.

Southampton is ranked in the UK top 10 and top 100 in the world for Computer Science. Social Sciences has world-­leading expertise in social policy & sociology and is home to three ESRC Research Centre's and numerous ESRC funded projects. Together, they have an outstanding track record in multidisciplinary education and research, with accumulated experience and expertise in meeting the challenges of cross-­disciplinary collaboration.

Our Web Science doctoral students are located in every Faculty across the University, drawing together research from Archaeology to Medicine, Music to Chemistry and Management to Engineering. All Web Science students are members of the Web Science Institute, a University wide initiative, that combines education, research and innovation working with local, national and international businesses to shape the future of the Web.
