Web Science student secures 20k to develop app

Travis Ralph-Donaldson who attended the University of Southampton's Dragons' Den Competition on Saturday 13 May 2017, has secured the investment for his app 'Handy Kanji'.

Handy Kanji is a language learning app that uses intelligent stroke recognition and scoring algorithms to teach the Japanese writing system. Travis spent 18 months teaching in the Far East after completing a degree in Japanese language and culture.

Dragons' Den is an event run by the University's Future Worlds startup incubator and the Fish on Toast and ECS Entreprenuers student societies.

All applicants into the Dragons’ Den process were supported by expert advice and mentoring support from the Future Worlds network. Student entrepreneurs can find startup inspiration and support through innovations, articles and campus events published weekly at www.futureworlds.com.
