MSc students present research project proposals

This year’s MSc Web Science students had their first opportunity to share their current research interests with an audience of CDT students. The session was chaired by MSc Programme Leader Professor Les Carr and CDT Director, Dr Mark Weal. The MSc summer projects would be developed in due course into full PhD research proposals by those students continuing onto year 2 of the iPhD Web Science programme.

 

This year’s MSc project topics included:

  • The motivations and barriers of sharing course materials in OERs
  • Digital vigilantism
  • Data visualisation and behaviour change
  • Online language learning and blended learning
  • Website optimisation for open data portals
  • The construction of historical memory on social media
  • Music tagging within the Semantic Web; music soundscaping with the Internet of Things;
  • The exploitation of open-source data in the “find” function of the targeting cycle.
  • The digital word
  • The use of digital web-based tools in STEM learning in primary schools; developing digital literacy skills in primary education
  • Cookie consent notices : tactics used by websites to foster agreement
  • The impact of e-consultations: a city council case study
