Public Policy Southampton recently co-ordinated a visit from the Government Office for Artificial Intelligence, which is responsible for overseeing the implementation of the AI and Data Grand Challenge.

Representatives met the University’s Turing Fellows and other academic staff for a round table discussion about mutual interests in AI related projects and research needs.

The University has been selected as the first institution to participate in the Office for AI’s new placement scheme for PhD students.  An information meeting hosted by the CDT in Web Science Innovation gave students from across the University the opportunity to find out about current Government AI priorities and how a placement could benefit their PhD research.

The Office for Artificial Intelligence is a joint BEIS-DCMS unit responsible for overseeing implementation of the AI and Data Grand Challenge.
