'Southampton's finest invention and its pioneer tech start ups'

In a recent article published in the Daily Telegraph, Ellie Zolfagharifard talks about how the City of Southampton is 'beginning to inspire a new generation of technology pioneers'.

WSI Executive Director, Wendy Hall believes this is down to the university and its strengths in science, technology and engineering. The world’s first practical optical fibre amplifier which was developed at the University by Professor Sir David Payne, is the technology that forms the 'backbone' of the internet.
