Web Science CDT students receive their PhDs at the Summer Graduation
The ceremony held in July at St. Mary’s football stadium in Southampton, was an opportunity for students who missed out on being awarded in 2020 and 2021, due to COVID, to join the 2022 graduates in a ‘super’ graduation.
The Web Science Doctoral Training Centre, which has been running since 2009 and is due to end in 2023, said a final farewell to a large proportion of the remaining students.
Oluwadolapo (Dola) Majekodunmi completed her PhD research into Social Media Banking in 2021, said of her award: “Joining the Web Science CDT was one of the best things I've ever done. Grateful for the support I received from my cohort and supervisors.”
Keisha Taylor-Wesselink who completed her PhD in 2020 with a thesis entitled ‘ Digital Platforms and Entrepreneurship in Trinidad and Tobago: An Examination of their Relationships Using Technology Affordances and Constraints’ said: “I count myself very fortunate to have been able to do my research in Web Science. The insights, strategies, and methods I have learnt has been so valuable and are especially needed now.”
