The Web Science Institute is delighted to announce that Professor Barry Wellman, Director of NetLab at the University of Toronto, will be giving the first WSI Distinguished Lecture on Friday 31 October 2014.
Professor Wellman will be giving a lecture entitled: From the Triple Revolution (Social Networks, Personalised Internet, and Handy Mobile) to Networked Individualism: The Impact on Community, Family and Work.
The lecture will start at 18.00 with refreshments served from 17.30.

Speaker information
Professor Barry Wellman,University of Toronto,Professor Wellman is a sociologist focussed on the study of networks - community, communication, computer, and social. His research examines virtual community, the virtual workplace, social support, community, kinship, friendship, using social network theory and methods. He is a member of the Royal Society of Canada and a Fellow of IBM Toronto’s Centre for Advance Studies.
