This event will update you on current initiatives to bring the educational benefits of our MOOCs into the classroom for the benefit of campus-based students. There will be 3 short presentations by Kate Dickens, Kate Borthwick and Lisa Harris with plenty of opportunity for general discussion and celebration of progress so far.
In just 2 years...10 courses, 25 course runs, 355,896 joiners, 162,368 learners, 68,431 new joiners in the last 8 weeks alone…
The Web Science MOOC is running now for the first time in two week “Mini-MOOC” format. Kate Dickens will explain how further flavours are planned for 2016, for example in Social Networks, Open Data, Digital Literacies. The course is also being targeted at the schools market via the new FutureLearn collection 'Going to University'
The recent second running of the Digital Marketing MOOC had 16,116 registered learners and was also studied by the MSc Digital Marketing and Marketing Analytics students as part of their taught programme. Lisa Harris and Mike Molesworth will discuss their forthcoming paper at the Social Media for Learning in Higher Education Conference which reports on the value of this activity.
The Understanding Languages MOOC has run 3 times so far with a total of 145,045 registered learners. Kate Borthwick will discuss the ways in which this MOOC has driven recruitment onto the online MA programme.
