Testing the 'more community' hypothesis using the online/offline community (O/OC) model - SPACE - as a measurement platform

Testing the 'more community' hypotheses using the online/offline community (O/OC) model - SPACE - as a measurement platform
Caroline Halcrow PhD Project Poster

"Putnam (2000) argued in his seminal piece, ‘Bowling alone’, that in the US, social capital had reduced. This study considers the hypothesis there is ‘more community’, due to degrees of online/offline community (O/OC).

The SPACE model of O/OC is proposed as a ‘measurement platform’. The model will be tested as a description of O/OC affording measurement of community, i.e. able to type and score O/OC by correlative dimension with facet to estimate and predict macro-community volumes, features, qualities and configurations. A secondary goal is testing the affordance of the model as a design template for O/OC development"
