BAe-RR University Technology Partnership for Design

RESEARCH ASSISTANTS & STUDENTS

We are always looking for good graduate students to work in the UTP and also sometimes have funding for post-doctoral workers. Workers in this well funded group are carrying out research on aerospace systems and multi-disciplinary design optimization. Our studentships are for three year periods leading to the award of PhD degrees and carry an additional £2,000 p.a. bursary over and above the normal E.P.S.R.C. rates for suitable candidates. The research is concerned with the design of satellite and aircraft & aeroengine systems using state of the art computational and experimental facilities. The aim of the research is to provide improved design methods for dealing with systems as diverse as space stations and gas turbines. The computational work will be based on genetic and other evolutionary search techniques. Further information on these opportunities can be obtained from Prof. A.J. Keane, whose contact details are at the foot of this page.
This work is supported by British Aerospace PLC (Sowerby Research Centre, BAe Airbus Ltd and BAe Military Aircraft) and Rolls-Royce PLC.
