Some publishers, like the American Physical Society, don't make large
profits. Our remote editors are paid a stipend in addition to office
expenses. Our full time in-house editors are paid and receive retirement
benefits and medical coverage. Their salaries are ok, but not up to those
of librarians, unfortunately.
