apologies for cross-posting:

Workshop at ECDL 2007 (Budapest, Hungary)
Towards a European Repository Ecology: conceptualising interactions
between networks of repositories and services

Call for position papers.

Ecology workshop goals:
This workshop will present an ecological approach to repository and
service interactions and allow participants to consider its usefulness
to their local setting and to the wider networks they participate in.
It will begin to identify existing components of the European repository
ecosystem, and highlight opportunities for repository and service
interaction with that ecosystem.
It will also attempt to identify gaps in the ecosystem where key
components are missing.

As part of the workshop we are looking for presentations (and subsequent
papers) from those involved in the development or implementation of
repositories and services that will illustrate the potential benefits of
this approach.

Position Papers should discuss the following:
-why the workshop is of interest
-what added value an ecology-based approach or analysis offers to what
they want to present
-what users (administrators and /or end-users), repositories and
services are present in their setting and any other significant factors
in their present in their 'ecosystem'.

Those submitting papers are asked to refer to an introductory report on
the idea of an ecology of repositories which is due out in two weeks.
Earlier presentations in this area are also available from the workshop
website.

Position paper length:
Position papers should be no more than one side A4 or letter (minimum
10pt font ~500-600words ).
Up to one further side is available for a supplementary diagram (if
considered useful).

Position papers are due on July 13 by email submission to rrt AT ukoln.ac.uk
Presenters will be notified by July 30
Draft full papers should be made available to the workshop committee by
August 30
Papers will then be finalised after workshop for publication as special
issue in an appropriate open access journal.
