German contributions to Open Access Week 2009

International Open Access Week will take place from 19 to 23 October
2009. Activities at many different locations worldwide during that
week will broaden awareness of Open Access and promote open access to
the knowledge and information generated by publicly-funded research.

The Alliance of German Science Organisations' Open Access Working
Group supports the broad participation of German science institutions
in international Open Access Week. Representatives of the Open Access
Working Group and open-access.net have set up a coordinating
committee whose aim is to support scientific and scholarly
organisations in <?xml:namespace prefix = st1 ns =
"urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags" />Germany in planning
and realising activities and events at their institutions within the
framework of international Open Access Week.

The coordinating committee encourages scientific and scholarly
organisations in Germany to take part at the Open Access Week to
broaden awareness and understanding of Open Access among scholars and
scientists.

All German institutions are invited to enhance their public
visibility and publicise their activities and events at Open Access
Week by registering with the information platform open-access.net:
