ECS have been active in digital imaging projects sponsored by HP's Art & Science programme together with museums and galleries. Within the department there are groups working on open archives, web science , semantic web, digital imaging, multimedia retrieval and human interaction.
The department uses many digital publishing techniques for information: intranet lecture notes, Podcasts, eprints, online document submission, common "doc-pots" etc. Current printing activites include conference poster design and printing directly by undgraduates (in two courses), postgraduates and researchers.
