Shell Step

Shell Step- Students & Business in StepWhat is Shell Step?

Students and business in step…

Shell Step is a national placement programme offering work experience placements in small to medium-sized businesses and community organisations during the summer vacation.

Eight weeks that could change your life!

An 8 - 12 week project based placement prior to your final year is an excellent investment in the rest of your life. Why? Because you will be able to use the skills you have developed throughout your project during your final year of study, and be able to demonstrate to potential employers that you have the skills and experience they require.

  • Shell Step Induction Day 2005Open to second or penultimate year undergraduates
  • Project-based work experience
  • Minimum training allowance £190 per week
  • 8 - 12 weeks during University holidays
  • Training days: induction day, mid-placement review, presentation event
  • Shell Step Competition to find the "UK 's Most Enterprising Student"

Shell Step is different from many work experience programmes because students tackle real-life business projects, for which they are responsible day to day. The importance of the project to the host business will mean regular contact with members of the company’s senior management team.
