Our IT support services provide staff and students with a number of options, from self-help guides, urgent in-person or telephone support. Choose from the options below to resolve your query, or check out the following solutions to popular issues.

Resetting your password

Resetting your password using a secondary email address

If you have a secondary email address set up on your account, you can reset your password from Subscribe Self-Service by following these steps:

  1. Open Subscribe
  2. Select "Reset a forgotten or expired password"
  3. Select "Reset your password"
  4. Confirm your identity as prompted
  5. Accept the Terms and Conditions
  6. Press "Send email". This will send a password reset link to your secondary email address

You will then receive an email with instructions on how to complete the reset.

What to do if you don't have a secondary email address
If you don't have a secondary email address set up, and you are away from campus, please use the ServiceLine box below. If you are on campus and need support resetting your password, you can visit one of our Tech Hubs, or contact ServiceLine via the box below.

Resetting your Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA)

NHS users: Accessing university systems with your NHS credentials

NHS (and gnh.net) staff who need access to University of Southampton (UoS) applications and resources can do so using a federated account.

Search for guides to help with common IT issues. Just login to the Knowledge Base with your username and password.

Get help using university systems

Do you need help with a system or application? The LearnIT training portfolio contains a complete list of software that’s in use for staff and students, with links to training resources.

You can also browse the student and staff pages for information on key systems. For example, there is guidance for students using Blackboard and staff delivering e-learning .

Access LinkedIn Learning

LinkedIn Learning is a library of online training. It gives all students and staff at the University full, free, unlimited access to thousands of training resources.

It covers IT topics, including instructional videos for using different applications. Some of the most popular courses include Excel, Python, Word, SQL and Power BI.

It’s not just about IT either! It’s a great tool for helping students prepare for the workplace, and staff to learn new skills.  There are courses on a wide range of soft-skills and employability topics, including management, communication, wellbeing, critical-thinking, problem solving, industry-based topics and much more.

Academic Skills Hub

The Academic Skills Hub offers an in-person, drop-in service to advise students on all aspects of academic skills, writing, maths and statistics support in 20-minute slots. No appointment necessary.

The Academic Skills Hub is open from 10.00 – 16.00, Monday to Friday, and is located in room 2045 on Level 2 of the Hartley Library (Highfield Campus).
