Event details

The Royal Society of Chemistry invites you to attend The Athena SWAN Chemistry Good Practice meeting.

This meeting is for any chemistry department looking to apply for or upgrade their Athena SWAN status.

The Athena SWAN Charter recognises commitment to advancing women's careers in science, technology, engineering, maths and medicine (STEMM) employment in higher education. This meeting will provide you with information about the application process through the experiences of chemistry departments who have already applied for Athena SWAN status. There will also be an opportunity to discuss ways in which the Royal Society of Chemistry could support your departments in this process.

Chaired by Professor Alison Rodger, a member of our Council, the programme will include:

  • The Athena SWAN application process. Sarah Dickinson, Athena SWAN Manager, Equality Challenge Unit, London.
  • Building strong foundations: our case for Bronze. Professor Zoe Pikramenou, Professor of Inorganic Chemistry and Photophysics and Chair of the Self-Assessment Team, School of Chemistry, University of Birmingham.
  • Going for Gold: Just the start. Professor Tom Welton, Head of Chemistry, Imperial College, London.
  • Online Platform for Higher Education Statistics: a demonstration, Melissa Black, Royal Society of Chemistry.

We do hope you or a colleague will be able to join us for what we hope will be an extremely beneficial meeting and discussion.
