Joint Centre for Population Change and Care Life Cycle seminar

In this talk I will discuss a microsimulation model built for the Welsh Government which simulates the costs and distributional effect of changes to the system for paying for social care in Wales, for up to 20 years into the future. The model uses household data from the British Household Panel Survey (BHPS). It has a number of innovative technical features, and a user-friendly Web interface. The program code is freely available under an Open Source licence. I will review the design and implementation of the model, outline possible future developments, and demonstrate the it in use.
