EDUCATION SEMINAR SERIES

Theme: Interdisciplinary, Involvement and Impact

This talk defines and implements a new hypothesis that redefines how we conceptualise a good number of relationships within education, social policy, psychology, and health.  For example, policies and interventions that target within the context of social inequalities/disadvantage and/or Special Educational Needs.  These function akin to car airbags inflating in an accident or to an immune system response.  The talk then demonstrates how we can test such hypotheses using existing statistical software packages and presents an example using ‘real life’ research data.

This new hypothesis allows us to better conceive a number of relationships within education, social policy, psychology, and health.  Further, we can do so in a manner than prompts clear empirical testing.

This new hypothesis provides a new basis for the development of - and evaluation of - a wide range of interventions and policies.
