Education Seminar
What is your talk about? The presentation will consider how researchers can contribute to system change by using research evidence to influence policy-makers and practitioners. It will provide an evaluative account of my involvement in a series of large-scale improvement initiatives. Set in the context of three of the countries that make up the UK (England, Scotland, Wales), these developments were focused on the promotion of educational equity.
What are the key messages of your talk? It will be argued that this requires the coming together of different perspectives in a process of social learning and knowledge creation within particular settings. This means that researchers have to overcome a number of barriers related to social, cultural and political factors.
What are the implications for practice or research from your talk? The presentation will conclude with an explanation of a strategic framework that can be used to think about how education systems can be helped to make better use of research knowledge.
